“The border around the flyer was Eunice’s version of a traditional Chinese design where wood was carved out around borders, such as on the frames around doorways. The bird and blossoms in the background are from Chinese art as well. Eunice expressed, " The background texture has a very faint geometric pattern that is from a stylized cloud pattern that I often saw when I studied Chinese art. My old Chinese art history professor would be glad to see I finally used all that stuff!"

Susan Kim's adaptation of Amy Tan's
"The Joy Luck Club"
Directed by Peter James Cirino
August 15 – September 14

Susan Kim's The Joy Luck Club, adapted from the Amy Tan novel, tells the story of four Chinese-immigrant mothers and their relationships with their American-born daughters. The play is made up of vignettes, which look deep into the Chinese pasts of the mothers and then shift back to the present day. The mothers share a sense of failure at being unable to connect with their daughters, and the sacrifices they made in order to come to America are played out like ghosts that come back to haunt them.
